The longlist for this year's prize announcedThe Orange Broadband Prize For Fiction, now in its 13th year, celebrates excellence, originality and accessiblity in women's writing. Any woman writing in English is eligible for the prize and this year's longlist includes a stong showing from debut novelists which make up seven of the twenty books. The winner of last year's prize was Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for her novel Half of a Yellow Sun. The shortlist for this year's prize will be announced on the 15th April and the winner will be announced in London on the 4th June and presented with a prize of £30,000. The judging panel this year includes broadcaster Kirsty Lang, singer Lily Allen, Guardian Review editor Lisa Allardice and the novelists Philippa Gregory and Bel Mooney.
